Prof. Dr. Alexander H. Trechsel earned his BA and MA in Political Science from the University of Geneva, where he also received his PhD in Political Science in 1999 with the highest distinction. Since 2016, he has been a Professor of Political Science at the University of Lucerne, which has been actively engaged in blockchain technology research for years, with numerous projects at the Department of Informatics and the Institute for Financial Services Zug. The university regularly brings together leading experts from industry and research at conferences such as the Crypto Valley Conference and the IFZ FinTech Conference. From 2005 to 2016, he held the Swiss Chair of Federalism and Democracy at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence and was Head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences from 2013 to 2016. He was a Faculty Fellow at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society from 2012 to 2015 and has been a Faculty Associate there since 2015.
